Reporter - Marisa Mendelson

Investigative Reporter Marisa Mendelson joined News 4 Tucson in April of 2014. Prior to moving to Tucson, Marisa worked for WFTV in Orlando, Florida. Marisa has more than ten years experience as a Reporter and Investigative Reporter. She has previously worked for stations in Oklahoma City, OK, Fort Myers, FL, Des Moines, IA and Rock Island, IL.

Marisa was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She went to college at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. She majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Spanish.

During Marisa's time as a Consumer Investigative Reporter at WFTX in Fort Myers, her reports on Florida's Construction Lien Law prompted a Senator to draft a bill. Her stories about a pool company that was accused of ripping off customers and sub-contractors, were then included in the bill's file.

Also, while in Fort Myers, Marisa's stories on Florida's Construction Recovery Fund prompted a Representative to amend a bill and change the way that fund is funded. The Governor of Florida signed that bill into law in June of 2010.

As an Investigative Reporter at KOKH in Oklahoma City, Marisa's stories about a drug rehabilitation facility sparked national attention. Following Marisa's investigations about deaths at the center, two lawmakers announced plans to draft legislation aimed to change the way rehab facilities are regulated.

Marisa has been honored with several awards, including the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award, a Florida Bar Media award and an SPJ Green Eyeshade award. She's received several awards from the Florida Associated Press and the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists. Marisa was also named one of Southwest Florida's 40 Under 40 by Gulfshore Life magazine.
In her spare time, Marisa loves to volunteer, eat gluten-free food and spend time with her two dogs, Gizmo and Boo Boo.
