Nathan O'Neal may be new to Tucson, but isn't new to Arizona. He grew up in Globe, Ariz., and earned his Master's and Bachelor's degrees at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University, where he received the "Outstanding Undergraduate Student" award.
While at ASU, Nathan reported for Cronkite News Service from its Washington, D.C. and Phoenix newsrooms. He was honored for best use of television for news coverage at the National Hearst Journalism Championship in 2012 and was awarded 1st place in the television news competition.
In 2011, Nathan reported for and produced a 30-minute documentary about borderland issues in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, which was awarded a Robert F. Kennedy Award in Journalism, as well as a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award.
Nathan worked as an intern at KPNX-TV and KPHO-TV in Phoenix, as well as for ABC News' "This Week with Christiane Amanpour" in Washington, D.C.. He also served as the bureau chief for the ABC News on Campus program at ASU. In 2009, he attended the Institute on Political Journalism at Georgetown University.
Nathan is very excited to start his career in Tucson and explore what southern Arizona has to offer - all while enjoying the desert sun!
