Sam Salzwedel joined News 4 in September of 2011. He may be new to KVOA, but he has been covering news in The Old Pueblo for a few years. He spent the previous four years at KOLD.
He was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. After high school, he immediately found his way out of the cold weather and down to sunny Arizona. Sam earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State University. He says he's grown used to being a Sun Devil in Wildcat Country.
Sam says he loves his job because it is different every day. He likes travelling all over Southern Arizona and meeting new people. He especially enjoys stories that involve nature and the outdoors.
The outdoors is also where Sam likes to spend his time outside of work. He is passionate about hunting, fishing, camping and hiking.
Sam is married and has one son. Most of his family lives in Phoenix, so he is happy to be pretty close to home.
If you have any story ideas feel free to send him an email.
