Safely get rid of old, unwanted prescriptions this weekend

MARANA - The Marana Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, is holding a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Target on the corner of Ina and Thornydale roads.

This is a great opportunity to dispose of unwanted, unused prescription drugs in a safe and environmentally friendly way.

In five previous take-back events, the Marana Police Department has collected more than 2 million pounds of prescription medications.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications.

Other Prescription Drug Take-Back sites are:

University of Arizona Police Station at 1852 E. 1st Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tucson Police Eastside Substation at 9670 E. Golf Links from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tucson Police Westside Substation at 1310 W. Miracle Mile from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Target at North Oracle Road and West Roger Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
