TUCSON - A big ramp-up in the Monsoon this Tuesday.
Ample Monsoon moisture and a Pacific low pressure trough triggers scattered thunderstorms, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. The timeframe for storms today will be 1-10 PM, mainly concentrated over Pima, Santa Cruz and Pinal Counties.
Some storms could turn severe today, with the primary threat being damaging microburst winds which could produce a dust storm. Our exclusive Monsoon Prediction Index sits at 7 out of 10 today to reflect the moderate risk of severe weather.
No rest for the Monsoon tomorrow and Thursday, as another round of scattered storm looks on tap each day. Between now and Thursday, some places may see between 0.75-1.25" rainfall.
The Pacific trough passes through the state by Friday, ushering in drier air and shutting down storm chances over the weekend.
