TUCSON - Kristi's Kids are getting help this holiday season from a very special team.
They call themselves Heartz 4 Kidz; a group of six siblings who are learning how to help others.
"There are 3,100 foster children in Tucson, in Pima County," says Andrea Graham, the Heartz 4 Kidz mom.
Kristi's Kids was there, in early October, when the Heartz team set-out collection boxes for toys at several locations.
And we were there the day after Thanksgiving when they unloaded some of the loot.
When Andrea was growing up, her parents fostered children. And she continues the tradition fostering children as she raises her own. From personal experience, she says, foster kids find the holidays confusing and emotional.
"The children still have a connection with their family. And they're away from them. And we want to bring them joy this Christmas."
And now her kids are helping the foster children. The team lineup: Miley who's 3, Zackary is 4, Julia 6, Camey 9, 12-year-old Jonny and Caleb is 14.
With help from volunteers, the crew counted and sorted all kinds of stuff. Last year they collected 500 toys. This year they hope for 600.
For the Heartz kids, the motives are simple and spiritual.
Caleb says, "Because foster children don't choose to be in foster care." And his brother Jonny adds, "Plus we believe that God says that we should take care of the orphans and help them."
