Slight thunder threat for start of Monsoon 2013

TUCSON - The Monsoon begins with a bang for portions of southern Arizona.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon & evening, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. The best chance for hit and miss storms will be along and east of a Casa Grande-Tucson-Nogales line. Severe weather is not expected, thus putting today's Monsoon Prediction Index at a 2 out of 10 for the low risk.

Drier air moves in from the southwest in time for Father's Day, ending any storm chances for the upcoming week. Daytime highs the next several days reach the 102-105 range across Metro Tucson.

Jeff will have a complete look at your Monsoon forecast tonight on News 4 Tucson at 5:30 and 10. Click here to track today's storms with our Interactive Weather Map. For daily forecast updates and real-time severe weather alerts to your cell phone, text "MONSOON" to 95990.
