Slim storm chances for the first week of August

TUCSON - A drying trend after an active Monsoon weekend.

Winds aloft from the southwest scour out Monsoon moisture the next few days, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Isolated storms are possible this afternoon for Tucson & points east, with the best chance of thunder residing in the mountains. Daytime highs reach the upper 90's metro-wide.

Storms shift to the mountains tomorrow through Thursday as valley floors stay thunder-free. With a dry atmosphere in place, temperatures return to the 100's in the Old Pueblo.

Models hint at some Monsoon moisture returning heading into the weekend. Only isolated storms are anticipated by Friday, with no significant uptick in storm development expected the next 7 days.
