Smoke from Mt. Lemmon controlled burn

TUCSON - The Santa Catalina Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest will burn wood piles on Mt. Lemmon on Monday, July 22.

The project area consists of 10 acres around Spencer Canyon and Mt. Bigelow.

The area has received four to six inches of rain in the past two weeks, lessening wildfire danger.

Piles to be burned were generated by thinning the forest to reduce the amount of fuels.

In the future, thinning will continue and piles will be burned when environmental conditions are favorable.
