TUCSON-Some parts of Southern Arizona woke up to three inches of snow Saturday morning.

It was quite a treat for Tucsonans who wanted a bit more snow than they could see from their area.

Cactus dusted with snow, branches usually bare now holding up snowflakes.

It was a beautiful setting in Vail for a photographer to capture.

"Not many opportunities you get to shoot snow in Tucson," said Greg McCown.

McCown is a landscape photographer and couldn't resist driving to Vail to capture the scenery.

"There's nothing like snow on the desert. It just creates a sense of irony and we don't get it very often people don't expect it," he said.

"We don't get very much of it, and so I go nuts when it snows just like everybody else," said Vail resident Linda Castel.

Newlyweds Bob and Linda Castel took a little walk in their neighborhood to see the view.

"It's really nice to have a place to go where you can see the snow on the mountains and the snow nearby. It's pretty," said Bob.

Three-year-old Summer Chapman couldn't resist sledding down a snow-blanketed hill.

She's from Rita Ranch and is making memories that will last a lifetime.

Childhood memories like this is what keeps McCown coming back to play in the snow.

"This is my version of playing in it. A guy never really grows up. He just changes the way he plays," said McCown.
