South 6th reopened following device scare

SOUTH TUCSON - South 6th Ave is back open after an earlier suspicious device scare at a nearby motel. A maintenance man found a suspicious package with wires and white powder, so he called for help.

South Tucson police called the Pima regional bomb squad. After the bomb squad tested the powder found with the devices they determined it was magnesium and gypsum.

The roads were re-opened and evacuees let back in after it was determined to be safe.
