TUCSON - The Pima County Sheriff's Department is working with its 911 telecommunications provider to figure out why the 911 system went down for about 20 minutes Monday.
PCSD says the interruption in service affected the unincorporated area of Pima County, including the Town of Sahuarita.
During the time the 911 system was down, 54 calls were not answered. Once the service was restored, dispatchers immediately attempted to contact all callers to see if they still needed help.
PCSD is working with its 911 telecommunications provider, CenturyLink, and equipment supplier, Cassidian Communications, to identify the cause of the interruption to assure appropriate actions have been taken to prevent further interruptions.
