TUCSON - Spring storms bring hail, wind and downpours to parts of Southern Arizona.
Thunderstorm activity favored Santa Cruz and Cochise County this afternoon as an upper level disturbance worked through the state. Even a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for the Douglas area after reports came in of small hail.
At one point this afternoon there were over 250 lightning strikes across Southern Arizona. Unfortunately those are to blame for a new wildfire burning in Santa Cruz County. As of 6pm Saturday evening that fire was up to 600 acres on the Babacamari Ranch and being attacked by members of the Sonoita/Elgin Fire Department and air assets.
Isolated showers and storms will continue for some parts of Southern Arizona into the evening hours before our rain chances come to end tonight. Easter Sunday will be dry with some leftover cumulus clouds building up in the mountains.
