Struggling with your mortgage? Help available Friday

SIERRA VISTA - Anyone struggling with their mortgage in Southeast Arizona should attend a day-long housing seminar Friday for help.

The Attorney General's office, SEAGO (SouthEastern Arizona Governments Organization) and the city of Sierra Vista plan to host it.

The event was organized to inform families affected by the mortgage crisis about the new and improved mortgage assistance program.

Families struggling to afford their mortgage payment can turn to the Arizona Mortgage Relief Fund for immediate and personal assistance. Due to the mortgage crisis, even if a family has been previously denied, they are still qualified for a number of assistance mortgage assistance programs.

At the free housing seminar, people can meet personally with HUD-approved housing counselors that will be ready to help with programs such as the following:

  • Legal services
  • Loan refinance
  • Loan modification
  • One-time recovery assistance (a one-time "catch-up" payment)
  • Hardest-Hit Assistance
  • Foreclosure Relocation Assistance

Partners in the event include: Arizona Foreclosure Prevention Task Force, Arizona Department of Housing, Southern Arizona Legal Aid, inc., and many others.
