Summer heat kicks off October

TUCSON - October is here with temperatures that should be seen in June.

Daytime highs were able to reach 99 today to kick off the work week and the month of October, according to Meteorologist John Patrick. High pressure sets up over the west coast bringing forecast highs in the low triple digits both Tuesday and Wednesday. If Tucson hits that century mark for the 74th time this year it would put 2012 in the top ten for most 100 degree days in a calendar year.

A slow cool down is on the way for the last half of the week as our high pressure ridge starts to break down. Temperatures fall back into the low to mid 90s to wrap up the work week and start the first weekend of October. Overnight lows will stay comfortably near average in the low to mid 60s over the next seven days for the Old Pueblo.
