TUCSON-A man is behind bars for attempted kidnapping and aggravated assault.
22-year-old Alberto Martinez is accused of grabbing a 15-year-old girl from behind Sunday afternoon near Wilmot and Pima.
The teen was walking toward a bus stop and told police her attacker said he was going to "take her" and insinuated he would hide her.
He was in video court Monday held on a $500,000 bond.
Police said the 15-year-old girl got away unharmed, ran to a nearby business and called her mom who then called police.
A reported disturbance at Monaco Condominiums brought police to Martinez's home.
"I saw them go in and go through in the back," said Daniel Cisneros who lives in the complex.
Police said Martinez matched the description given by the 15-year-old girl and the person who called in the disturbance.
In video court, Martinez denied assaulting the girl saying it was a friendly hug, but according to police, around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Martinez came from the complex behind the teen and grabbed her then told her he was going to "take her."
The teen was walking to a bus stop after visiting a relative at the complex.
Daniel Cisneros said he has a young daughter and can't believe this all happened in broad daylight.
"You've got to be really careful. You have to be really protective and look around and be alert," said Cisneros.
News 4 Tucson reached out to Martinez's family who didn't want to appear on camera but said they do not believe he would assault anyone.
