TUCSON- A fire damaged several apartment units Friday night at a midtown complex.
Multiple 911 calls were made just before 7 p.m. reporting a fire at the Desert Cove Apartments at 1201 N. Alvernon Way.
When TFD crews arrived they found a first floor apartment heavily involved in flames. The fire then started spreading to the second floor units. Firefighters rescued one resident who was trapped on the second floor.
During firefighting operations a total of eight units were evacuated. Two units sustained fire damage and six additional units had smoke damage.
A total of 26 units were evacuated because of a power outage due to utilities being shut down for safety reasons.
Management of the complex opened up the office for residents and ordered food while they were waiting to get power restored.
The Red Cross also responded. There were no injuries to firefighters or residents.
