Thunder threat shifts east to start the work week

TUCSON - After a Monsoon weekend barnburner, a quieter Monday in store for southern Arizona.

Isolated storms are possible in Metro Tucson this afternoon, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Areas east of the metro stand the best chance of scattered storms. Expect high temps to reach the upper 90's in Tucson, which is at or slightly below late July normals.

High pressure parks over the state by mid-week, shifting storm chances to the mountains tomorrow and Wednesday. Triple digit heat returns Tuesday as the atmosphere dries out. Monsoon moisture and instability increase by late week, bringing back a chance of isolated storms.
