TPD looking for suspect in vehicular homicides

TUCSON - Just hours into the New Year, police in Tucson are investigating the first homicides in a south side neighborhood where someone intentionally ran over three people with a car.

It all started shortly before 4 am when police received a 9-1-1 call. They were told that a fight had broken out on Sunland Vista, Southeast of Kino and 22nd, and someone had run over three people intentionally after that fight.

A 47-year-old woman died at the scene. A 32-year-old man was transported to the hospital where he later died. A 43-year-old woman remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The identities of the victims have not been released.

Tucson Police Sgt. Chris Widmer said the suspect took off after running the individuals over and ditched the car off the road near Campbell and Sunland, it's a white, four-door vehicle with heavy front end damage.
Neighbors told News 4 Tucson that a loud party was going on in the area that lasted into the early hours of the morning.

"People when they're drinking and stuff they don't think. The party scene is getting too out of hand. These house parties are not in control," said Christopher Johnson who lives in the neighborhood.

Sgt. Widmer said the details of what happened paint a very convoluted situation. Detectives have been working all day interviewing witnesses and examining the crime scene, trying to sort out exactly what triggered the incident.

Detectives are also looking for a yellow sedan with the words "yellow cab" on the side of the car, which may have played a role in the incident. Yellow Cab Company is cooperating with the investigation.
Tucson Police is actively attempting to identify either the yellow sedan or driver. If you have any information call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
