Tractor trailer fire stopped before burning building

TUCSON - Large plumes of smoke rising into the midtown air prompted firefighters to respond to a fire near the 800 block of East 17th Street.

Tucson Fire spokesman Cpt. Barrett Baker says a tractor trailer parked at the Tucson Food Service warehouse loading dock caught fire. The driver attempted to put it out but it was too overwhelming.

The fire threatened the warehouse, but was extinguished before causing too much damage.
