TUCSON - Tucson police fatally shot a man on the South Side Saturday.
Around 7 p.m. they got a call about a man and woman physically fighting outside the Pueblo Center near Irvington Road and 6th Avenue.
The caller said the man had a handgun.
According to Tucson Police Sergeant Chris Widmer, officers responded about 2 minutes later and located 22-year-old Freddy Batt Sosa and his sister.
Sergeant Will Corrales and Officer Jesus Tapia gave verbal commands to Sosa after seeing a handgun in his waistband. Sosa began walking towards the officers and removed the gun from his waistband.
Widmer says both officers fired their weapons.
Sosa was pronounced dead at the scene. His sister was not injured.
Homicide and Internal Affairs will investigate.
