TUCSON- The Arizona State Prison Complex on South Wilmot remains on lockdown because of a large fight, involving 400 inmates.
It happened in the Whetstone Unit Sunday, around 9:45am.
According to Bill Lamoreaux with the Arizona Department of Corrections, the fight involved approximately 300 Caucasian and Mexican-American inmates and approximately 100 African-American inmates.
It's unclear what started the fight.
Two employees received minor injuries.
Five inmates were taken to local hospitals for treatment to injuries sustained in the fight.
Other inmates were being assessed and treated on-site.
The complex will stay on lockdown the rest of the day.
Lamoreaux says visitation has been canceled throughout the Tucson complex.
ASPC-Tucson has 5,150 beds in custody levels of minimum, medium and close custody. Today's inmate count for the complex is 5,134. The Whetstone Unit has a total of 1,242 inmates housed in 1,250 minimum custody beds.
