TUCSON - The city hopes to replace all 1, 297 parking meters.
After years of poor cash quality control, the city is looking for bids to find out how much it would cost to replace the old, coin-operated parking meters with new meters.
These new meters would take various forms of payment, including allowing you to pay with your cell phone.
Donovan Durband, the ParkWise Program Administrator says the system will be high-tech and allow you to find a parking spot from your phone.
Still no word on what the cost to replace the meters would be. The bids haven't come in yet, but they should trickle in within the next few weeks.
