TUCSON - Tucson has posted a record-high temperature for the second consecutive day.

The high in the city reached 89 degrees on Thursday afternoon.

That topped the old record of 87 degrees set on March 14, 2007.

Wednesday's high of 89 also was a record for that date, breaking the old mark of 88 degrees set in 1989.

National Weather Service meteorologists say a high-pressure system is keeping temperatures unusually warm for this time of year.

Temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler during the weekend, however.
