Tucson wakes up to the coldest morning in 39 years

TUCSON - Record cold strikes the Old Pueblo again.

The Tucson International Airport dropped down to 17 degrees this morning, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. This breaks the old record low of 20 degrees set on this date in 2007. This morning marks the first time since Christmas Eve 1974 that Tucson saw a temperature of 17 degrees.

Another cold night follows high temps in the 40's this afternoon. Expect mid to upper 20's metro-wide tonight, with a Hard Freeze Warning in effect through tomorrow morning. Temperatures shouldn't be as cold overnight as we saw last night.
