TUCSON - Today is not just any Wednesday -- this 12th day, of the 12th month, of the 12th year of the century is a big deal for some Tucsonans who will forever mark a milestone in their lives.
You can't help but notice that today's date 12/12/12 has something special about it -- especially since no one can own this date again for another hundred years.
Baby boy Jackson Trimble was born early this morning at Tucson Medical Center, and he's one of those markers in life for new parents Christopher and Joey.
"It's really special for us, and that it wasn't planned makes it even better. It was just the luck of the draw, I guess," Christopher told News 4 Tucson.
Family and friends were excited at the possibility of having the 12/12/12 birth date for Jackson.
"We're excited to have him here no matter what but definitely to be 12/12/12...for everyone it's a real big deal for them, Christopher said, adding: "...to mark it with our first child is a very exciting thing for us."
However, that wasn't all the action surrounding this day. One couple tied the knot today at the Pima County Justice Courts, hand in hand as they took their leap of faith in each other.
The bilingual wedding ceremony was a last minute decision, with the hope that the significance of the date 12/12/12 would stand the test of time.
"We were going to get married any one of these days but we thought the date of 12/12/12 would be very significant so we preferred to do it today," said Frank Zadroga after signing his marriage license this afternoon.
It's a day these folks won't forget anytime soon as today is just the beginning of their next journey.
"I'm real excited, I'm just really excited for the opporunity to be a fater," said Christopher. "It's something that I've looked forward to for a long time so now that I actually get a chance to do that."
