Turning up the heat & the Sonoran Wind Machine

TUCSON - Feeling like a blast furnace today, perhaps feeling like the Monsoon wrapping up the week.

A cold front passing north of the state creates gusty west-southwest winds up to 25 MPH today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Patchy blowing dust may occur along I-10 in a few spots, mainly near Picacho Peak and the Willcox Playa.

Under mostly sunny skies, Tucson peaks at 104° this afternoon.

Some moisture from Hurricane Cristina creeps into the state by Friday, helping to touch off isolated thunderstorms. The best chance of storms will be in the mountains along and east of an Oracle-Tucson-Nogales line.

Breezes return for Father's Day weekend, with gusts to 20 MPH possible.
