NOGALES, AZ - Customs and Border Protection agents arrested two Mexican men on Saturday for trying to smuggle just over 51 pounds of methamphetamine into Arizona in separate attempts.
34-year old Adan Segoviano-Gutierrez was caught at the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry with meth packages underneath a plastic bed liner. CBP says its officers found 35 pounds of meth with a street value of more than $538,000.
Earlier the same day, CBP officers arrested 26-year old Juan Salomon Orozco-Bojorquez at the Mariposa Port of Entry. They found almost 17 pounds of meth inside a hidden compartment in the firewall of the truck. It was worth about $256,000.
Both trucks were processed for seizure along with the narcotics, and both men now face federal smuggling charges.
