TUCSON- Two people were displaced Friday night, after their house caught fire near Reid Park.
Tucson Fire Captain Chris Jurvig says multiple calls were placed to 9-1-1 just after 9:30 p.m., reporting a house on fire in the 3400 block of East 27th Street.
The first units arrived five minutes after receiving the call and found flames coming from the rear and side of the residence.
Jurvig says all the residents self-evacuated prior to TFD's arrival.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke when entering the residence, reducing their visibility to only three feet above the floor.
Another unit made their way to the roof and cut a hole to allow for the smoke to escape.
Jurvig says the interior crews found fire in multiple rooms and the attic space.
It took 25 firefighters 18 minutes to bring the fire under control.
TFD says the cause of the fire is due to an unspecified malfunction of the operating electric dryer.
Damage is estimated at $75,000.
