Two suspects arrested in road rage gun battle

TUCSON- Tucson Police arrested two suspects in Thursday's road rage gun battle that injured a 9 year old girl.

TPD's initial investigation uncovered that two vehicles were arguing and at some point guns were drawn near the intersection of Irvington Road and Campbell Avenue. The 9 year old girl was hit in the leg when both vehicles exchanged gunfire. Also, there were three other people in the vehicle the child was in, including an 11 year old boy, but no one else was hurt.

The second vehicle fled the scene, but officers were able to track down the suspected Dodge Neon.

The driver was identified as Oscar Santa Maria, 19. His passenger was Carlos Santa Maria, 20. Both suspects were booked into the Pima County Jail. The driver is facing one drive-by shooting charge. The passenger was booked on 1 count of drive-by shooting and 4 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Charges are still pending for the driver.
