UA ranks among world's top universities

TUCSON - Out of the top 1,000 universities across the globe, the UA is ranked 70th in a new report from the Center for World University Rankings.

The Center for World University Rankings publishes the only global university ranking that measures the quality of education and training of students.

The UA moved up to the 70th position in this year's international rankings, from the 78th spot last year.

The UA ranks at 45 among 229 national institutions included in the report. It is Arizona's highest-ranking university in the report, with Arizona State University at 106 and Northern Arizona University at 783.

Universities are judged on eight weighted criteria, including quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, publications appearing in influential journals, citations, broad impact, and patent filings.
