TUCSON - To many, it was a harmless senior prank that went viral and has become a national ‘talker.' But the University of Arizona streaker could now face serious charges related to how he was able to impersonate an official and get on the field in the first place.
Jace Lankow is facing a felony charge for Criminal Impersonation, but the impersonation goes beyond the fake referee outfit he wore as he strode out onto the football field during the UA-UCLA game last night.
According to a police report, Lankow produced a fake access pass by updating a pass he received while working as a football volunteer several years ago.
The police report also reveals a possible motivation for the streaking: Lankow told officers he wanted to be a contestant on the ABC show ‘Wipeout.' He said that the application asks what the craziest thing you've ever done is, and he wanted a crazy story to secure him as a contestant.
We'll have more on this bizarre incident tonight on News 4 Tucson this evening.
