UPDATE: child drowns during Labor Day gathering

TUCSON - Tucson Fire confirms a 2-year-old boy has died after being pulled from a hot tub at a local apartment complex.

Tucson Fire Captain Barrett Baker says the call about the drowning came in at 7:42 p.m. Monday, near Monte Vista and Columbus. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital just minutes later.

Captain Baker says a nurse on the scene tried to give the child CPR until paramedics arrived.

The incident happened during a family gathering.

This is the second drowning in Southern Arizona this summer.
