Victim might not survive bus stop shooting

TUCSON - A 31-year-old man might not survive after being shot at an East Side bus stop.

Tucson Police responded to Golf Links Road, between Wilmot and Kolb roads, around 8:30 p.m. Friday night.

Witnesses told police the victim was by himself when at least 2, maybe as many as 5, people approached him, according to Lt. Fabian Pacheco.

Somebody shot the victim at least once. Some people from the apartments across the street tried to help.

All the suspects fled. Witnesses who were stopped at a red light stayed and talked to police.

The suspect might be a Hispanic or white man, 25 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall. He may have been wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, according to Pacheco.

TPD's Gang Unit is investigating, because police think the victim had a gang affiliation.
