VIDEO: Never before seen tapes of MLK assassin

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - On the 45th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., newly-restored video of the shooter has been released.

The video, shot in 1968 and 1969, was restored, converted and released Tuesday by the Shelby County Register of Deeds Office. It shows James Earl Ray's return to Memphis to face trial for the assassination of the civil rights leader.

One highlight is Ray on an airplane after his arrest in London. He is having his rights read to him by Shelby County Sheriff, Bill Morris. Also shown is Ray's arrival at the Shelby County Jail.

King was shot while standing on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel on April 4, 1968. Watch the restored video here.
