Seventeen Gould's turkeys were released in Rincons Monday, Arizona Game and Fish spokesman Mark Hart said.
Last year 15 were released for the first time ever there, and are doing so well we added more. They were captured today in the Huachucas, Hart said.
The native species had ceased to exist in the region until we started reintroducing them in the 1980s. Now there are more than 1,000, according to Hart. .
