Warm, breezy Cinco de Mayo for the Old Pueblo

TUCSON - A new week featuring gusty winds, a high fire danger and a dip in the thermometer.

Breezes up to 20 MPH are expected today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Daytime highs reach the low 90's in Metro Tucson, running 4-6° above average under sunny skies.

A cold front moves toward the state tomorrow, cranking up wind gusts to 40 MPH. Most of southeastern Arizona is under a Fire Weather Watch from Tuesday morning until Tuesday evening. Localized areas of blowing dust may occur along I-10 near Picacho Peak and the Willcox Playa.

Breezes remain elevated Wednesday as the front passes, with cooler air filtering in from the north. High temps Wednesday and Thursday will be in the mid to upper 70's in Tucson.
