TUCSON - The Arizona Wildcats men's basketball program is already gaining preseason hype, earning the number one ranking according to Sporting News. Now, new uniforms are only adding to the build-up in southern Arizona.
The Wildcats released five new uniform combos on Wednesday with looks similar to those worn in the mid-1990s.
"Our entire team is excited about receiving these new uniforms," said senior T.J. McConnell, according to the athletics department. "Not only are they going to look great, but the technology that went into making them will benefit us on the court.
"So many great players in Arizona history wore similar uniforms, and it's nice to be able to honor them while we try to do some of the same great things on the court."
According to the athletics department, the Nike Elite Fit 2.0 uniforms were created with light-weight technology to enhance maximum performance.
The Wildcats new uniforms will pay tribute to UofA teams such as the 1997 squad, which won the NCAA National Championship.
Arizona is set to open their season on Sunday, November 9.
