TUCSON - University of Arizona alumni celebrated homecoming Saturday.
Former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly were the Grand Marshals of the parade.
"It was great to see her overcome what obstacles she's had to overcome," Darsi Aldrich said. "She's an inspiration to Tucson. She's an inspiration for all. And she is just a true American hero."
Fans travelled from all over the country to watch the football game against the UCLA Bruins.
"I live in Orange County," Carly Flynn said. "So I'm able to go to the LA games. So I at least go to one Arizona game a year. And it's fun, but being back on campus it's nice. It's good to be back home."
The Wildcats started late, with an 8 p.m. kickoff.
Nick Barton said he tailgated all day and wasn't worried about getting tired.
"No, it's not too long to tailgate," he said. "If you're from Arizona, this is the perfect time to tailgate."
Matt Quadrini was confident the team's star running back would carry the team to a win.
"Let me tell you right now, Ka'Dream [sic] Carey is going to run all over UCLA tonight," he said. "Ka'Dream Carey. All night long. He's running all over UCLA. They have no defense."
