TUCSON - Abundant and widespread rain fell across most of Southern Arizona over the weekend and many locations are running rain surpluses for monsoon 2014. The exception is Tucson where the city is still in a deficit; despite over 1" of rain in the past 72 hours.
Monday will feature fewer storms than recent days, but a few mountain storms could roll into the valleys late in the afternoon and evening hours. The primary impact will be heavy rain.
Expect an even more active day of storms on Tuesday as high pressure positions itself into a favorable area to help usher in deeper moisture. Highs will be a few degrees below average with the increased chance of storms.
Fewer storms are in the forecast by mid week and temperatures will climb back to seasonal averages - which are in the mid to upper 90s for mid to late August.
