Winter's revenge coming to the Old Pueblo

TUCSON - After abnormal December warmth, Old Man Winter returns to southern Arizona.

A cold front dropping down the California coast brings a big change to the forecast. Here's a timeline of what to expect, compiled by News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish.

TIMING: Gusty winds to 30 MPH this afternoon & early this evening. Showers enter western Pima County overnight, arriving in Tucson/southeastern Arizona tomorrow morning. Rain/mt. snow tapers off Saturday morning.

ADVISORIES: Winter Weather Advisory for Mt. Lemmon, the Santa Ritas, Huachucas and Chiricahuas Friday from 5 AM until Midnight. This includes Summerhaven, Madera Canyon & Portal.

RAIN TOTALS: 0.25-0.50" between Friday morning and Saturday morning. A few isolated areas may see rainfall up to an inch.

SNOWFALL: 5-10" snow possible above 7,000 feet, including Mt. Lemmon. Perhaps a dusting by daybreak Saturday for Bisbee and Portal in Cochise County.

TEMPERATURES: Low 70's this afternoon, low/mid 50's Friday and Saturday. Overnight lows this weekend likely reach the freezing mark south and east of Tucson.

SENSIBLE WX IMPACTS: We won't see a lot of blowing dust today thanks to our wet November. Wet roadways tomorrow with mountain travel becoming treacherous. Not anticipating issues with washes/streams running across roads
