TUCSON - Our last winter storm of the year is on the way for more valley rain and mountain snow.

Southern Arizona will see the effects of this storm system as soon as this afternoon with breezy conditions as gusts hit 25-30mph, according to Meteorologist John Patrick. Showers could start as soon as this evening with the main rain and snow event occurring after midnight tonight.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been put in place from midnight to 9am Monday due to the low snow levels with this storm. Elevations all the way down to 3500ft could see 1-2" including the cities of Nogales, Oracle, Benson, Willcox, Sierra Vista and Clifton. The heaviest snow iss expected above 5000ft where up to 6" could fall.

Valley locations could pick up between 0.10"-0.25" with locally higher amounts possible. This system lifts out of Southern Arizona early tomorrow afternoon drying out just in time for New Year's Eve celebrations.

Chilly temperatures are also associated with this storm as highs struggle to reach the 50s both Monday and Tuesday. Expected to wake up to freezing temperatures New Year's Day in Tucson so protect your pets, plants and pipes. Thereafter a slow and gradual warming trend takes over through the first week of the new year.
