TUCSON - A woman unsuccessfully tried to cross a wash with her 3 kids in her truck, according to Picture Rocks Fire Chief Brett Lane.
A Pima County Sheriff's deputy gave her a ticket after she was rescued, even though barricades were not in the road, according to Lane.
Thursday afternoon, the woman tried to cross Manville Road near Reservation Road and stalled. She called 911 for help.
Picture Rocks firefighters rescued her 3 kids, and then saved the woman. The kids were cold and scared and taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to Lane.
"You never know how deep the water is," Lane said. "It's very common for us to respond to these things when people drive in, thinking they can get through and they can't."
Marc Daily came to the crossing and had to turn around. He is used to seeing the detours.
"It could take you another hour to get home," Daily said. "It's ridiculous. They should put some bridges around here."
Despite the somewhat regular delays during the monsoon, he is happy to live in the area.
"It's worth it to be out here," Daily said, "away from all the hustle and bustle."
