Women and the GOP

Republicans are calling for a new era.

"We all know the GOP has to get out of our comfort zones and go to places where we haven't been for a while," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus told party members gathered for the ongoing Republican National Committee winter meeting.

That means engaging women who backed President Obama over Mitt Romney 55 to 44 percent in the last election.

But the party isn't scoring many points with comments made by potential presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee.

"If the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it," Huckabee said in a keynote address Thursday.
