    67 mile detour on I-10

    A major interstate closure between Tucson and Benson overnight on March 8 will force drivers to alter travel plans or prepare for a 67-mile detour, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

    Southbound Interstate 17 shut down in Phoenix

    PHOENIX (AP) - Southbound Interstate 17 in Phoenix is closed due to a fatal car-pedestrian accident Thursday morning.

    The closure on southbound I-17 is just north of where I-17 splits off from Interstate 10 south of downtown.

    Southbound traffic on I-17 is being taken off the freeway at 16th Street.

    The Department of Public Safety says the closure will extend well into the morning rush hour.

    Traffic Alert: Downed power lines closes roads

    TUCSON - According to Tucson Police, an accident has closed Mission Road from Ajo to Irvington.

    A car hit a light pole early this morning, and there are downed power lines in the area. One person was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

    Police say the closures on Mission road will not affect traffic for Marybelle McCorkle School, located on 4455 S. Mission.

    Accident closes westbound I-10 in Phoenix

    PHOENIX (AP) - For the third day in a row, a serious accident has closed part of Interstate 10 in Phoenix during the morning commute.

    The Arizona Department of Transportation says westbound I-10 was closed Friday morning at 35th Avenue. That's just west of the "Stack" junction with Interstate 17.

    Motorists are being advised to use surface streets to get around the closure and to get back on I-10 at interchanges west of 35th Avenue.
