Posted 8:50 PM 10/19/2013 : 15th pedestrian dies on Tucson streets
TUCSON - A car struck and killed a man on Speedway Boulevard Saturday afternoon.
Tucson Police got the call around 3 p.m. at Speedway and Richey Boulevards, just west of Alvernon Way.
Firefighters pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Investigators believe he was in a crosswalk.
The driver cooperated with officers. They do not know if he will face any charges.
It was the 15th fatal pedestrian accident in 2013. There were 6 in 2012.
The latest pedestrian to die was a 7-year-old boy. He was struck September 29, less than a half mile from Saturday's collision.
