TUCSON - Arizona Wildcat football fans got to watch their former star tight end play in the Super Bowl.
Rob Gronkowski was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2010.
Arizona football alumnus Kris Heavner was excited to see his former target play in football's biggest game.
"I think it's pretty cool," Heavner said, "because we knew when Rob first came in, he was something special."
Heavner was a senior when the tight end came to Arizona. He was one of the team's backup quarterbacks but got to play with Gronkowski in practice.
"He could catch anything you threw to him," Heavner said, "and he could block. That's what set him apart."
Gronkowski injured his ankle before Sunday's game. He only caught 2 passes.
Heavner is now the head football coach at Santa Rita High School in Tucson.
