TUCSON - A red face is expected when you're embarrassed, or sick, but what if it's a chronic condition?

Dermatology contributor, Dr. Jody Comstock, stopped by with the information you need on rosacea.

Red patches of skin on your face, tiny visible blood vessels and spots: many people know these problems well. They may be caused by rosacea, a common inflammation of facial skin. Skin diseases can be difficult to cope with and often affect peoples' confidence and well-being.

Rosacea is no exception, but there is a lot that people can do themselves. Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that makes your face turn red and may cause swelling and skin sores.

Rosacea involves swelling of the blood vessels just under the skin. It may be associated with other skin disorders or eye disorders.

Symptoms include:
Redness of the face
Blushing or flushing easily
A lot of spider-like blood vessels (telangiectasia) of the face
Red nose
Acne-like skin sores that may ooze or crust
Burning or stinging feeling in the face
Irritated, bloodshot, watery eyes
