Posted 6:31 PM 2/2/2013 : Elderly woman rescued after being trapped in car
TUCSON - An elderly woman was trapped inside her car Saturday afternoon after crashing into a power pole.
It happened in the 3400 block of North Camino de Oeste, west of I-10 near West Sweetwater Drive.
Northwest Fire Captain Adam Goldberg said there were live wires on top of her car.
That made it difficult for crews to try to get her out.
They waited for Tucson Electric Power to come and turn the power off.
Crews then got the woman safely out of the car.
She was not hurt.
Tucson Electric Power is on scene repairing the line and anticipates working on it throughout the evening.
Access on Camino De Oeste near Sweetwater is restricted to residents only. No thru traffic.
Pima County Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteers are on scene assisting with traffic control.
