TUCSON - A sizzling & stormy afternoon for portions of southern Arizona.

High pressure over southeastern New Mexico draws in enough moisture for isolated storms today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. South of an Ajo-Nogales line, scattered storms will be possible with a few turning severe. For that reason, today's Monsoon Prediction Index is at 4 out of 10, indicating a moderate risk for damaging microburst winds.

Today's forecast high in Tucson is 106, which ties the record high for this date set back in 1994.

Storm chances increase Wednesday, thanks to abundant Monsoon moisture interacting with an inverted trough. Scattered thunderstorms will develop tomorrow afternoon and evening across all of southern Arizona.

The remainder of the week calls for high temps dipping below 100 degrees and a daily round of isolated thunderstorms.
